Where Our Journey Began
John Hamman, the Founder and Director of Kidz Adventure Camp, started working with orphaned children from a very young age. Every orphaned child had tough challenges to face, yet all of them had unique dreams and aspirations. Working so closely with vulnerable children allowed John to become very sensitive to the needs of others, and inspired his passion for making a difference.
At the age of 18, John was offered a job to drive a quadriplegic young student, William Scott, to and from his classes and lectures. Willam was previously a master gymnast and sitting in a chair and being dependent on others for the rest of his life was surely not an easy task for anyone to manage, yet John’s personal touch was exactly what he needed.
After several caregivers have come and gone, John Hamman took it upon himself to take care of William in all capacities; from bathing, dressing, feeding, and even medical support. This was a life-changing experience for John, and it was so clear that even the simplest of contributions can make a huge difference to someone’s life.
Most of us are extremely fortunate and don’t realise what our assistance could mean to someone with disability. John’s journey in assisting the disabled continued, and led him to dedicating his life to create a unique place for those in need.
In 2011, after more than 20 years of working with the orphaned, disabled, and less fortunate, John founded the Kidz Adventure Camp. Since then, the Kidz Adventure Camp has become deeply involved with various other charities and NPOs and has spread its wings to assist in a multitude of areas, creating a dedicated community of caregivers.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our journey. Please support us if you believe in the development of children in need, and we look forward to working with you.
